Extended filing periods occur when a non-term-limited incumbent does not file for re-election. The extended deadline is Wednesday, August 17, at 5 PM, for the MCC two-year seat to finish the term of Erin Deinzer who resigned. Candidates must be registered voters residing in the unincorporated San Mateo County Midcoast towns of Montara, Moss Beach, Princeton, El Granada, or Miramar. Find resources and how to apply at County Elections. The filing period is closed for the three open four-year seats, with all three incumbents qualifying (Dan Haggerty, Lisa Ketcham, Laura Stein) and no other candidates applying.
Other Coastside elections with extended deadline are HMB City Council, Cabrillo School Board and SMC Harbor Commission. The Elections Dept Roster of Candidates is updated each evening after 5 PM.
UPDATE 8/18/16: Two candidates qualified for the 2-year MCC open seat: Barbra Mathewson and Brandon Kwan, both of Moss Beach.
