HMB Hwy 1 Improvements Meeting Jun 13

Highway 1 Traffic Safety & Operational Improvement Project in HMB
Information Meeting, Monday, June 13, 2016, 7 - 8:30pm
Emergency Operations Center, 537 Kelly, Half Moon Bay

The Project consists of a set of roadway, signalization, and pedestrian features and upgrades designed to increase safety and improve traffic flow along Highway 1 through portions of Half Moon Bay. It's also intended to provide improved response times for emergency vehicles, as well as new median landscaping for enhanced aesthetics on this roadway.

Among the specific improvements are safer turning and merging lanes, new traffic signals, and certain pedestrian/bicycle safety enhancements. Construction of this estimated one-year project may start as early as spring, 2017.

At the June 13 community information meeting, City staff will present an overview of the project, including preliminary design concepts. There will be ample opportunity for questions and answers, and for participants to provide input to the City about any aspect of the proposed project.

Funding for a majority of the project elements is from a San Mateo County Transportation Authority grant, to be supplemented by the City with impact fees already collected. In addition, the private developer of Pacific Ridge (Ailanto) is providing funding for specified Terrace Avenue/Highway 1 improvements, including signalization.

Please plan on attending the June 13 community information meeting to learn more about this project, have your questions answered, and offer your input. If you'd like further information, please contact the City at 650-726-8270.
