First rain causes closed beaches

Results of beach and creek-mouth water quality sampling Monday morning 10/22 after the season’s first rain has left beaches posted closed up and down the Coastside for bacteria that could make you sick.  It is the flushing of the watershed where we live that causes this pollution, from our yards, trails, and streets, to the storm drains, to the creeks, to the ocean.

Posted beaches: Linda Mar, Pillar Point Harbor at Capistrano Beach, WestPoint, and Maverick’s parking lot, and HMB beaches Roosevelt, Dunes, Venice, Francis.

Posted creeks at the beach: Calera, San Pedro, Martini, San Vicente, North & South Roosevelt, Frenchman’s, Pilarcitos, San Gregorio, Pomponio, and Gazos.
